Senior Front-End UI Engineer

What You’ll Do:
  • Own all web-related front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) across our marketplace and internal tools
  • Work with a small agile team of Product Managers, Designers, and Engineering Managers to understand business requirements, identify solutions, and determine feasibility & timeline
  • Ensure uniform behavior and presentation between desktop web and mobile web platforms
  • Develop efficient, reusable front-end libraries and components to craft pixel-perfect implementations of responsive web interfaces from Sketch design files
  • Find and address page speed performance issues using automatization tools to reduce HTTP requests and minimize data transfer size
  • Implement security and data protection
  • Write UI tests daily
  • Regularly communicate with engineering managers on project and delivery status
  • Set & enforce best practices for code quality, organization and automatization
What You Have:
  • BS degree in Computer Science
  • Experience with PHP, Symfony MVC Framework & Twig templating language
  • Comfortable working with design tools like Sketch and Zeplin
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, agile startup environment
  • Experience working with Linux command line
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and ramp-up quickly
  • Passionate ideas to improve group travel & events experiences
  • 4+ years developing UI for large-scale, performance-optimized, and responsive web apps for mobile/desktop/tablet
  • Natural ability for crafting elegant UI by translating Sketch designs into scalable HTML/CSS (scss)
  • Expertise in JavaScript (jQuery) and comfortable writing Vanilla JavaScript
  • Building products with UI/UX component-based architecture by owning the customization of open-source front-end libraries (Bootstrap)
  • Page speed performance, load speed optimization, reducing HTTP requests, concatenating multiple CSS/JS files, minification, compression & debugging
  • NPM automation/build workflows (Grunt, Gulp, Bower) and CSS preprocessors (less, sass)
  • Creating front-end web apps that consume RESTful web services
  • UI testing, testing frameworks & automation
  • Knowledgeable in how HTML parsing and rendering works and how to manipulate rendering engine features to create beautiful and highly responsive interfaces.
  • Code version control (Git)
