The Murph Challenge

Every Memorial Day thousands of athletes around the world perform an intense workout to honor Medal of Honor Winner LT. Michael Murphy and compete and compare times in an event called The Murph Challenge.

Our Client needed help getting live on a tight timeline, and came to Agency73.

The Timeline

Within 10 days of project kickoff, Agency73 developed and deployed a registration module which allowed for product purchase & event registration. This module tracks 6 unique participant-specific variables to enable the time entry and leaderboard sections which are vital to the successful execution of The Murph Challenge.


The time entry and leaderboard modules were developed to allow users to post times that link to their original registration information. The times postings include new data points, like user reported event time and type of workout (modified or as prescribed) as well as data points from the original order including name, gender, and gym affiliation. The leaderboard is also sortable by each of these 5 unique data points.

The Result

The Murph Challenge 2018 raised money for the LT. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation bringing the event’s total contribution to over $1,000,000 since 2014 and was ranked in the top 1% of Shopify stores by traffic during the month of April 2018.
